Getting to know Myo Megan

Hi! I’m Megan and here’s a little bit about me.

I was born in Bairnsdale, East Gippsland before my family moved to Swan Hill where I completed both my primary and secondary schooling at Swan Hill Primary & Swan Hill College.

Bairnsdale is still my favourite place to visit, especially to be spoiled by my Nan & Pop; where we never leave hungry. Bairnsdale holds very special memories & my patients will know my second job should be a saleswoman promoting Bairsndale & the East Gippsland region.

I am very thankful for my country upbringing, where hard work is engrained into us – this was especially the case trying to keep up with my older brother. Growing up, the main sports I played was whatever my brother was also doing. Following him, I started soccer & swimming which continued all through my schooling years and then eventually following him to footy also. It’s currently 2-1 my way with the number of grand finals won & I’ll save the details for who is ahead in BnFs won.

Upon finishing year 12 & just after my 18th birthday I moved to Melbourne to begin my Bachelor of Health Science Myotherapy degree whilst captaining Bendigo Pioneers U18 girls & going on to play for Williamstown in the VFLW.

To say I was homesick whilst living in Melbourne would be an understatement and is why I am so incredibly happy to be working back home. The country beats the city any day.

Thanks to covid delays my uni degree was extended by 18 months; with this brought frustrating challenges but also a great opportunity to pack away the study notes for a plane ticket to Darwin to play for St Marys in the NTFL. I’d take playing footy over studying every day of the week & was certainly the silver lining with my degree delays. Putting aside the additional time it took to complete my degree, I hope it’s made me more resilient for future challenges life may throw at me and the ability to take it all in my stride whilst trying to find the opportunities & growth lessons.

My future goals would certainly involve winning more footy grand finals, ticking off my bucket list items and travelling to beautiful places around Australia.

Outside of sport my favourite things are being outdoors, holidaying with my partner, our family holidays to Bairnsdale, reading great books and bevvies with my friends.

I love living in the Mallee & now I’m finally home, I couldn’t be happier to be working at Central Mallee Health & helping those who helped me along the way.
