Getting To Know Osteo Jake!

My name is Jake – this is a little bit about me!

Born and raised in Melbourne, I attended Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School. Whilst at school, I spent my playing football for Doutta Stars Football Club and my school side in PEGS, also an avid swimmer, triathlete and waterpolo player competing for all at state level.

After finishing high school, I began studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences – Chiropractic at RMIT. On completing my first year of university, I decided to make the jump into Osteopathy feeling I was more suited to the profession. During this time I had a passing of a major family member and decided that it was the right time to take a gap year and do some travel… so off I went!

My journey began in Europe with a close friend in tow. We travelled our way through Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Netherlands and Belgium. After 4 months of travel, a move was made to London, where for another 6 months I worked in pubs and at other odd jobs as travellers do. After squeezing in Iceland, Scotland and Paris, I felt the urge and need to return home to Australia.

I wasn’t quite done traveling. I pointed myself in the right direction of Oz and booked a one-way ticket to India. I backpacked around for a very eye opening month, before heading to Sri Lanka, hiring a 4×4 and traversing the island with friends. Next was Nepal and Everest Base Camp which entailed a couple of very rickety flights to the highest/most dangerous airport in the world, Lukla (scary flight!). Upon viewing Everest in all her beauty and being physically drained from the trekking, it was time to return home to achieve my dream of becoming an osteopath.

I returned to finish my studies at RMIT University, immersing myself in experiences and opportunities, which is how I met a mentor in Lou. I decided it would be another great opportunity to work rural part time in in Swan Hill & Kerang with the team at CMO. I currently also work at North Melbourne Football Club (VFL) as a trainer, as well as another osteopathic clinic in the Melbourne CBD – a great variety of environments to enjoy.

If i’m not running from clinic to clinic or tending to injured football players, you will find me sneaking to the beach for a surf with my girlfriend or catching up with friends accompanied with a few refreshing ales.

I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with and meeting the wonderful people of the Swan Hill and surrounding community.
