Getting To Know Osteo Mick!

My name is Mick – this is a little bit about me!

Growing up in Sea Lake, I attended school at Tyrrell College and enjoyed playing a range of sports locally. My first love has always been football, in particular the mighty Richmond Tigers (especially in 2017). I also enjoyed playing tennis, cricket, and social bowls as well as going camping, fishing, and hunting.

I left Tyrrell College at the end of year 10, when I was offered an academic scholarship to Ballarat Clarendon College. During year 11 and 12, I travelled home each weekend to play football for the Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.

Upon finishing Year 12 in 2011, I received an offer to study Osteopathy at Victoria University, but decided to move back to Sea Lake to help my father run his business during my gap year. I played in a losing grand final for Sea Lake, whilst also completing my private pilot’s license with the valuable time off study.

I commenced my degree at the beginning of 2013 and during my first year of university I lived at the Victoria University student village in Maribyrnong. I played football for Avondale Heights and worked at a pub in Ascot Vale as a cocktail bartender. Throughout this time I also enjoyed attending a number of music festivals and concerts, the highlight being Taylor Swift’s concert in 2015.

During my time at university, I battled with recurrent ankle sprains, a broken foot, and lower leg nerve issues, which is how I developed an interest in foot and ankle rehabilitation.

I graduated in 2017 and moved back to Sea Lake to begin working at Central Mallee Osteopathy. Initially I began working in Swan Hill and within a few weeks I was also working in our Kerang clinic. A couple months later, I was able to fulfil my dream of working as an osteopath in my hometown of Sea Lake, with the opportunity to provide a valuable health service to the community in which I grew up.
